  • What is an adaptogen?

The term adaptogen is used by herbalists to refer to a natural herb product that is proposed to increase the body's resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue.
Adaptogens are defined as natural products that have these characteristics:
    1. Non-specific effect on the organism (body).
    2. Safe and non-toxic
    3. Naturally occurring

  • How is Soulēra different from other herbal adaptogen products on the market?

Most companies use dry herbs without an extraction process. Soulēra's unique proprietary co-extraction process is what sets it apart from other products on the market. It takes 6 weeks to complete the liquid extraction process. As a result the liquid is 5 1/2 times stronger than the dried herbs taken together. We then take the potent liquid and convert it to an easily consumable powder.

  • What is cortisol?

Cortisol is the body's stress hormone that is produced as a response to stressful situations. Cortisol causes an increase in the body's metabolic rate, preparing it for the fight-or-flight response which keeps us out of harm's way. While the body can dissipate cortisol when times are relaxed, prolonged periods of stress results in continued production of cortisol and can overwhelm the body. This can lead to chronic stress, a condition with severe health implications.

  • What is a co-extraction?

An extract is when you put a single herb into a solvent such as water and ethanol. You allow the mixture to steep so that the beneficial properties can be removed from the dried herb and released into the liquid. When several herbs are combined into natural solvents at a scientifically calculated proportion and allowed to steep so that beneficial properties can be removed from all the herbs, this is called a co-extraction.

  • Are the plants that are used in Soulēra environmentally sustainable?

Yes. The herbs used in Soulēra are only harvested at specific times throughout the year and for every plant that is removed it is replaced by a native plant to ensure sustainability of the land. This is a highly regulated and a licensed process.

  • Is Soulēra FDA approved?

The FDA regulates dietary supplements under a different set of regulations than those covering "conventional" foods and drug products (prescription and Over-the-Counter). Under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), the dietary supplement manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that a dietary supplement is safe before it is marketed. FDA is responsible for taking action against any unsafe dietary supplement product after it reaches the market. Generally, manufacturers do not need to register their products with FDA nor get FDA approval before producing or selling dietary supplements. Soulera is fully complaint with all these regulations and good manufacturing practices. LeraPharm treats Soulera as a pharmaceutical in that we conduct clinical trials of the product itself and not just the ingredients. We also conduct our Quality Assurance program to pharmaceutical standards.

  • Have you conducted any clinical trials using Soulēra?

Yes. Over the last 5 decades numerous independent studies with tens of thousands of participants were conducted on the benefits of adaptogens, which showed very positive results. We are now in the process of conducting our own clinical trials with Soulēra in North America.

  • Do you perform quality testing on your product?

Yes, we conduct quality testing on our product for identity and purity following pharmaceutical standards. Quality control begins with harvesting and the selection of the herbs used and continues through the process to making the sachet of Soulēra. This is a comprehensive testing and analysis process and we take great care to assure the highest possible quality.

  • Do you test on animals?

No. LeraPharm does not conduct animal studies and we will not commission any animal studies.

  • What were some of the findings of the clinical trials involving Soulēra?

Soulēra's pilot clinical trials showed the average participant achieved a cortisol reduction of 26%, which is statistically significant. A much larger clinical trial that will study even more parameters of stress is currently being conducted. LeraPharm intends to conduct on-going clinical trials.

  • Where can I view the clinical trials you conducted?

We are in the process of posting translated studies on Soulēra's website www.Soulera.org. The results of the North American studies will also be available on Soulēra's website and published in medical journals in the near future. We maintain comprehensive files on the studies for Soulēra and files on each of the components used and we are happy to share these for your reference.
